Walking With Anxiety: A 7-Day Devotional GuideSample

Day 1: Understanding Anxiety and Giving It to God
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:7
What Is Anxiety? Anxiety is not just a mental battle; it is a spiritual and emotional one. God invites us to surrender our worries to Him because He cares about every aspect of our lives.
Anxiety is a complex and deeply personal experience. For some, it is a medically diagnosed condition that requires professional support. It manifests as a state of unease—persistent worry, fear, or an overwhelming sense of distress. Our personal experiences, upbringing, and culture shape how we understand and describe our struggles. You may not consider yourself an "anxious person," but perhaps you’ve experienced times of feeling overwhelmed, restless, or burdened by worry.
No matter how anxiety presents itself in your life, the truth remains: God sees you, He understands your struggles, and He cares deeply for you.
The Bible does not promise a life free from anxiety, but it does invite us to bring our worries to God. First Peter 5:7 reminds us, Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. God does not dismiss our struggles—He welcomes them. He is a loving Father who desires to lift the burdens from our hearts.
Today, you may feel the weight of anxiety pressing down on you. Perhaps there are fears that won’t subside or uncertainties that steal your peace. Take a deep breath and remember this: You don’t have to carry this alone. God is calling you to place every worry, every fear, and every overwhelming thought into His hands.
Reflection Questions
- How does anxiety manifest in your life—mentally, emotionally, or physically?
- What worries or fears have been weighing on your heart?
- How can you practice giving your anxieties and worries to God daily?
Prayer Focus
Ask God to help you release your anxieties into His hands and trust His care for you.
Father, I come before You with an anxious heart. There are things I don’t understand and situations I feel powerless to control. But today, I choose to cast my burdens onto You. I believe that You care for me and that You are in control. Help me to release my fears and rest in Your peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
