Stepping Into Your Wild

DAY 3 OF 3

Day 3: Lost and Found
God’s pursuit of us

Chapter Summary
Let It Be Wild, Chapter 3 - Lost and Found

There was a season in my life where everything I thought was secure suddenly felt like it was slipping through my fingers. My parents’ divorce was a loss that hit me deeper than I could have expected. I didn’t know how to hold the weight of that grief, so I ran. I stopped going to church, pulled away from people who cared, and built up this false sense of strength to make it look like I was okay. But behind the smile and the packed schedule, I felt so alone.

What I didn’t see at the time was that even in my wandering, God was already reaching for me. He was showing up through friends, conversations, and quiet nudges that reminded me I wasn’t forgotten. I wasn’t too far gone. Even in my silence, He was still speaking. Even when I was distant, He stayed close.

Stepping Into Your Wild

There are moments in life where we just feel… lost. Maybe it’s grief, disappointment, shame, or simply drifting slowly until one day we wake up and realize we’re far from where we thought we’d be. Maybe you're in that place right now—navigating a season that feels foggy, distant, or disconnected from God. If so, hear this: you’re not alone.

One of the most beautiful truths about God is that He doesn’t wait for us to “get it together” before He comes after us. He doesn’t fold His arms and wait for us to return. No—He runs toward us. He searches. He pursues. That’s His heart.

I think about the story in Luke 15 where Jesus talks about the shepherd leaving the ninety-nine to find the one. That one sheep matters. You matter. And even if you've wandered far, He’s already on His way.

We live in a world that tells us we have to earn love and prove our value. But the kingdom of God flips that script. Love is not a reward for good behavior—it’s the foundation that meets us in our brokenness. There’s no guilt trip in God’s pursuit. Just grace. Just open arms. Just relentless love.

And when you realize He never stopped chasing you, something shifts inside. You begin to understand that home was never lost. It was always waiting. So wherever you are today, you don’t have to keep running. You don’t have to figure it all out first. Just turn back—and let yourself be found.

Key Takeaway

Even in our wandering, God never stops coming after us. His love isn’t dependent on our performance—it’s rooted in His unchanging character. No matter how far we drift, His arms remain open, and His pursuit never ends.

Reflection Questions

  1. What parts of your life feel distant from God right now?
  2. How has God been quietly pursuing you, even when you weren’t paying attention?
  3. What’s one step you can take today to let yourself be “found” by Him again?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for never giving up on me. Thank You for chasing me down when I’ve wandered and for gently calling me back when I’ve drifted. Help me to stop running. Help me to trust that You are safe, that Your love doesn’t require perfection—just honesty. I’m ready to come home. Amen.
