The Glory in Your Story: Activating a Fearless Faith to Change Your Life, Your Career, and the WorldSample

Embrace God's Plan in the Pivot
In business, we often hear about self-reliance. We read books about grit and “putting in the work.” We live in a culture where being self-made is celebrated, but self-reliance has its limits, and inviting God to take us in a better direction can make all the difference.
Pivoting isn’t easy, and there’s not always a straightforward way to recognize when God is calling you to shift directions versus when it’s your own fear or hesitation causing you to be distracted. Nevertheless, God will let you know. And sometimes He will use people as vessels to deliver those messages.
We can make all the plans we want, but those plans can only carry us so far. Trusting in God’s greater plan, however, takes us further than we can go on our own. Please understand, it’s 100 percent okay to make your plans. It’s critical to have a sense of direction and goals to strive toward. However, while it’s good to have a plan, it’s critical that we’re willing to be malleable and leave room for God to establish that plan.
We must always be listening for God to provide us the route to execute our plans. Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Our plans may be good, but God’s plans are always greater. It serves us well to allow the voice of God to provide the directions for the road ahead.
That’s why it’s wise to check who’s driving your decisions. Let go of the need to control every outcome and trust God’s direction. Lean into the pivot and embrace the big changes that will inevitably come. God sees the bigger picture, and His plans are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8).
Again, go ahead and make your plans. Set your goals. But always leave room for God to guide you. When you do that, you’ll find yourself on a path that not only leads to success but to a deeper understanding of who you are and what you’re called to do. God will take you beyond what you could ever imagine.
Pray
Lord God, I’m so thankful that Your ways are higher and better. I submit to You today and ask You to pivot me toward Your good, pleasing, and perfect will (Romans 12:2). Amen.
