Finding Peace Amidst the Storm

How often have I found myself worrying about things beyond my control? Perhaps that's why I feel so overwhelmed—it all seems out of my hands. Recently, as I prepared for a weekend trip, the weather forecast was daunting: ice, snow, and freezing rain awaited me at my destination, while thunderstorms and tornado warnings loomed at home. My youngest was traveling home from college, and my family remained at our house. With long drives between different venues on the itinerary, my stress levels soared. Panic began to take over, and I nearly called off the entire trip.


In that moment, I realized I needed to entrust my worries to the Lord. I prayed for protection over my family and my journey, choosing to place my faith in Jesus. That's why I find such comfort in this particular scripture passage. I have a tendency to panic over even the most trivial matters, but in those times, I can always turn to the words of Psalm 23.
