Resurrection Sunday: The Transforming Power of the Cross

DAY 3 OF 3

The Resurrection – Victory Over Death

You can shout for joy knowing that Jesus didn’t stay in the tomb—He conquered death! YES! HE got UP! The resurrection is the solid foundation of our faith, proving that Jesus is the Son of God and that sin and death no longer have the final say in our lives.

When the women arrived at the tomb, they expected to find death. Instead, an angel declared, "He is not here; He has risen, just as He said!" (Matthew 28:6). What seemed impossible had happened—Jesus spoke truth and defeated death. He made a way for new life, second chances, and fresh starts for all of us.

An old church hymnal, released by the Gaithers in 1971, declares:
"Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know who holds my future, and life is worth the living just because He lives."

Those lyrics still ring true today. We have victory, hope, and the promise of eternal life. As the Body of Christ, we are called to live as resurrection people—walking in His power and sharing the Good News of the Gospel.

There are moments in life that feel like the end—loss, failure, heartbreak, or seasons where hope seems buried. Maybe you’ve been carrying the weight of past mistakes, disappointments, or dreams that feel dead. But 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

The resurrection of Jesus proves that what looks dead isn’t always the end of the story. Jesus didn’t just rise for His own victory—He rose so that we could rise too. Have faith and believe that His resurrection power is alive in you.

No matter what has tried to hold you down—sin, shame, fear, or failure—it doesn’t have the final say. Romans 8:11 reminds us, “The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you.” That means the same power that rolled the stone away is working in your life today.

Your story is not over. If there is something in your life that feels dead, trust and believe—God CAN and WILL bring dead things back to life!

Prayer:

Father God, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude, knowing that because Jesus lives, I have hope, victory, and new life. Thank You for the power of the resurrection—the power that conquered sin, broke the chains of death, and opened the way for eternal life.

Renew my faith to believe that nothing is beyond Your reach. Restore what has been lost, redeem what feels broken, and breathe life into every weary place in my soul. Help me to walk in the fullness of Your promises, to trust Your timing, and to stand firm in the truth that You are making all things new.

Thank You, Jesus, for getting up—so that I, too, can rise. I surrender it all to You, believing with confidence that RESURRECTION SUNDAY is here!
