Resurrection Sunday: The Transforming Power of the Cross

DAY 2 OF 3

The Tomb – Waiting in the In-Between

Have you ever felt stuck in the “in-between”? Maybe you’re waiting for a breakthrough, healing, direction, or restoration in a relationship. The silence can often feel heavy, making you wonder if God is truly moving on your behalf.

The burial of Jesus represents the in-between—the silence before the victory. Just as Jesus was placed in the tomb, there was a season of waiting before the breakthrough. For many, this is the hardest part—the waiting. But even in the silence, God is at work. The tomb was not the end; it was preparation for resurrection.

After Jesus was placed in the tomb, His followers were devastated. To them, it seemed like the end of the story. Their hopes, dreams, and faith were buried along with Him. But what they couldn’t see was that God was still working. This truth reminds us that when we surrender, we make room for the new life Christ offers. Even when it seems like nothing is happening, God is setting the stage for resurrection.

The same is true for us. Over the years, I have helped many people discover their purpose and walk boldly in it. The “in-between” — the space between waiting and breakthrough — has brought many to tears, both of sorrow and joy. But Romans 8:28 assures us, “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” Even when life feels stagnant, God is orchestrating something greater behind the scenes. Waiting isn’t wasted time—it’s preparation.

Psalm 27:14 encourages us: “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” The tomb was a waiting place, but it wasn’t a wasted place. In our own waiting seasons, we have a choice: to sit in discouragement or to trust that God is preparing something greater than we can see.

When you feel buried by disappointment, exhaustion, or uncertainty, remember Isaiah 40:31: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.” Jesus didn’t stay in the tomb, and neither will you stay in this season forever. HE got UP.

If you are in a season of waiting and doubting that God is near, take heart—God is working behind the scenes. Surrender it all to Jesus and know this: RESURRECTION SUNDAY IS COMING!

Father God, in this in-between season, strengthen my heart to trust that You are always working, even when I cannot see it. Fill me with unwavering faith to believe that Your resurrection power is moving in my life, bringing renewal, breakthrough, and transformation. Help me rest in Your perfect timing, knowing that every delay is a part of Your divine plan.

In Jesus' Name, Amen!
