Stay on His Side God is a mighty and unrelenting advocate for the helpless, the humble, and the poor. He promises to rise up and defend the defenseless from the plunderer and the oppressor. In a proverbial sense, He's the bodyguard who keeps the playground bully in check and at bay. Suffice it to say, the Lord isn't going to stay neutral when someone is being taken advantage of. He's going to be active and involved. And if we're wise, we'll make sure we're always on His side of the equation. None of us intentionally sets out to be a bully or a bad guy. And yet, our hearts can be so deceptive in taking us down that path. It's easy to justify things when we only look at them from our side of the equation. We can make decisions or take a course of action that may not seem like a big deal to us, because it's what we want. But from God's vantage point, we may actually be plundering or oppressing others...and that's a position we never want to find ourselves in. When it comes to what we do in this life, it's always healthy to ask the Lord to open our eyes and to show us if we're acting as a plunderer or an oppressor. We need to pray that He would protect us from failing to be on His side of the equation and that He would give us a heart for the things He has a heart for. Defender of the defenseless, protector of the poor, please help us to champion Your causes and to align ourselves with Your agenda. None of us intentionally sets out to be a bully or a bad guy. And yet, our hearts can be so deceptive in taking us down that path. Think about it... What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
