Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale Daily Devotional

DAY 77 OF 365

Relationally Reconciled! Reconcile: to bring into agreement or harmony... Do you know what it's like to be reconciled with someone? Have you ever had a dispute with a colleague or family member that left you unsettled and uncertain in your spirit? Deep down, you sensed there was something wrong that had to be made right. As you opened the avenue for communication, you were able to come to a peaceable agreement that put you on the same page and built up your bond with each other. If so, then you know what it's like to experience the power of reconciliation. You've also experienced something that the cross has accomplished for anyone who is willing to receive it. Only it's not the reconciliation of an earthly relationship but the reconciliation of a relationship infinitely more important...our relationship with God. The cross is where God reconciled His relationship with us. It's where the very thing that left our relationship with Him unsettled and uncertain (our sin) was fully and thoroughly dealt with. When we believe this as fact, that Jesus paid the price for our sins, the Bible says we who were once "far off" from God are now "brought near" to Him. Sadly, many have a hard time receiving this. Their spirit is still plagued by a sense of separation and strife that was set in motion back in Eden. But Jesus died on the cross so we wouldn't have to live this way. He died so we could know we've been completely reconciled in our relationship with God. If you haven't already recognized and received this truth-that at the cross the greatest relationship we can ever know was reconciled-why not do it today? But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:13 NKJV) When we believe this as fact, that Jesus paid the price for our sins, the Bible says we who were once "far off" from God are now "brought near" to Him. Think about it... What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
