DAY 261 OF 365

Speaking through your spouse There are three major passages in the Bible that pertain to marriage: Genesis 2:20-25, Matthew 19:4-12, and Ephesians 5:21-33. In all three areas we're told that the husband and wife "become one." Clearly, God wants us to understand that the two are one. Now, follow the flow of thought here: If the Lord has determined that a husband and wife are one, He isn't going to lead them in two different directions. We see this principle play itself out over and over again in the scriptures. God told Adam and Eve to leave the garden together. He sent Noah and his wife into the ark together. He led Lot and his wife out of Sodom together. Abraham and Sarah were sent to sojourn together. Joseph and Mary were warned and led into Egypt together. God's will is for husbands and wives to be together. So when it comes to God's will within the context of marriage, we can expect it to be the same for the husband and wife. Again, He won't lead them in different directions. Something is wrong when a husband is adamant about going one way and a wife is adamant about going another way. One of them isn't walking in God's will. But the reverse can be just as revealing. When a husband and wife sense the same conviction to go in the same direction, it could very well be an indication of what God's will is. If you're married and unsure about God's will for you, it's wise to find out what your spouse thinks. Assuming they're sensitive to the things of the Lord, He can confirm His plan for you through them. Keep your ears and your heart open to what your spouse has to say, because it could very well be God speaking to you. There are three major passages in the Bible that pertain to marriage: Genesis 2:20-25, Matthew 19:4-12, and Ephesians 5:21-33. In all three areas we're told that the husband and wife "become one." Clearly, God wants us to understand that the two are one. Think about it... What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
