Day 1: Recognizing the Deep Call

Scripture: Psalm 42:1-2,7

"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?"

"Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me."

Reflection:

The psalmist’s words reveal an intense spiritual hunger—a deep longing that can only be satisfied by God. The phrase “Deep calls to deep” suggests that God’s depth is calling to the deepest places within us, awakening a desire for more of His presence, more of His truth, and more of His power.

Many believers settle for surface-level Christianity—occasional prayer, casual Bible reading, and worship without passion. But God is calling us to go deeper. When we experience spiritual dryness, it is often because our souls are longing for more of God, but we have been trying to satisfy that hunger with lesser things.

Do you feel this deep yearning for more? This yearning is not just a fleeting emotion—it is a divine invitation to go deeper. God is calling you to respond—to step beyond routine faith into a vibrant, transformative relationship with Him.

"Lord, I recognize the deep hunger You have placed in me. I don’t want to stay in shallow waters—I want to know You more. Awaken my heart to seek You and reveal anything hindering me from answering Your deep call. In Jesus' name, Amen."
