Gospel of John Student DevotionalSample

After praying for His disciples, in John 17:20-26 Jesus prays for all believers, and those who don’t yet believe. It is a prayer for unity among all believers. He is praying for unity and for us to see the love and truth of God, and for us to share that love and truth with others. It can be hard to stay united with our friends and family, but by staying through hard times, and staying united we can see how powerful God’s love truly is.
After Jesus makes this prayer, we see him travel to a garden that He often visited with his disciples. It is here that we see Jesus getting arrested after being betrayed by Judas. While going through this, he stays calm and even protects his disciples before himself. When Peter attempted to defend him, Jesus stopped Peter. Jesus knew that this was meant to happen, and God’s plan was being fulfilled. Even though it can be hard to follow God’s plan when we don’t know what comes next or what is going to happen, it is important to remain dedicated to God, and put all your faith into trusting him and his plans.
