Men After AbortionSample

Moving Forward With God
Moving forward with God is the start of a long-term relationship. Beginning a relationship with the Lord is likened to a wedding and our life with Christ to marriage.
God loves us so much, and He longs for a relationship with us. An abortion experience doesn’t have to get in the way of our relationship with God. In fact, he desires to walk alongside you every step of the way.
There are two key elements to this relationship. First, is to grasp the critical concept that the Lord is in control; he leads and provides all we need. Second, like in any marriage, time spent together is crucial. Please recall that time spent with a spouse should be a delight, not a duty.
1) God’s Control
God’s love, care, and faithfulness are the foundation of the Christian life. Listen to the following verses. They contain some complicated theological terms that may be foreign to many of us, but a careful reading makes a point that, I think, is clear despite all those terms sprinkled throughout. See if you get it—
"For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren. And those whom he predestined he also called; and those whom he called he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified." (Romans 8:29-30)
Do you see it? God initiated our salvation in eternity past when he predestined and called us. He continued his work in us when he appeared before the Judge and justified us. Finally, he will complete it when he glorifies us in heaven, a reality we see throughout the New Testament and expounded in the book of Revelation. Thus, he leads and we follow.
2) Spending Time Together
The key to the Christian life is to grow in our understanding of the matchless mercy and amazing grace provided by the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Jesus called men “to be with him” (Mark 3:14) simply because he wants us to know him and he avidly seeks our company (Luke 22:15; 15:14). Often when we meet another man we “size him up.” Is he rich, powerful? Smart, educated? Is he cool, cocky, conceited? Jesus invites us to do the same with him (Matt 16:15).
As men, we have the privilege and blessing of a literal relationship with the most well-adjusted male to ever walk the planet. We hear him speak from Scripture and we respond in prayer; prayers he will answer.
We see this type of relationship in Luke 24:13-35, where two men who followed Jesus were despondent and dejected because their Lord was crucified. When Jesus appeared to them, they engaged him. They “strongly urged him to stay” (v. 29), and Jesus blessed them as he “opened” three things (v. 31, 32, & 45). Read the passage for yourself. I invite you to check out the rewards of such persistence.
Jesus came to earth to avidly seek us. He continues to do so through the Holy Spirit. Will you engage him and ask him to stay? He will open some new vistas for you. Guaranteed.
Ready to move forward? The hymn writer said, “Those who trust him find him wholly true.”
