Only Jesus Will Make Things Right

If there is ever a topic that makes Christians go a little bit crazy, it’s the return of Jesus. There have been innumerable book publications, podcasts, blogs, and random televangelists making predictions, cracking Bible ‘codes’ and generally just confusing everything. However, two things are abundantly clear from the Scriptures. Firstly, Jesus will return. We don’t know the hour or the day. But we are to live in light of this promise. Secondly, he will administer justice and make things right in the world again. Every tear will be wiped away, no more suffering, no more pain. What a beautiful future awaits those who follow him.

But the story isn’t finished yet, the final scene has not arrived. In the meantime, are we to sit around waiting? No, we have work to do. We are to share the good news of Jesus' death and resurrection; we are to build his kingdom across every corner of the earth. This portion of our life before the return of Jesus means we have a unique opportunity to show grace and justice in the world while it’s still broken. This is a special time for us to glorify God, even when the world doesn’t.

We could spend all our time scheming and predicting for when Jesus will return. But what if we instead continued the story of Jesus that’s been running over several millennia. What if the ways of Jesus became our own and we’d be resolved to selflessly serve God and love people until Kingdom come?
