"Give us this day our daily bread..." Matthew 6:11 ESV
The next prompt of The Lord's Prayer addresses the everyday needs. Jesus has spoken about belonging to the Father and commitment to His Name (v 9). He's talked about giving our desires and our little kingdoms to God (v10). Now, He asks The Father to fill the needs we have.
Jesus isn't just talking about literal bread here. He's asking the Father to give him what he needs to get through this day.
This line transcends the physical and can speak to our deepest emotional and spiritual needs.
So many of our anxieties stem from a sense of lack or fear of lack. Later, in Matthew 6, Jesus directly addresses this fear. He shows how God's design has everything in Creation perfectly orchestrated to receive what it needs when it needs it.
Your Father in Heaven knows what you need when you need it. Talk to Him about your needs today.
THINK ABOUT IT:
1. Do you trust the Designer to give you what you need today?
2. Do we sometimes desire the creation more than the Creator Himself?
PRAYER PROMPT:
Father, please give me what I need today!

About this Plan

What if we traded our little worlds for the Eternal Kingdom, now and to come? Walk with us, line by line, through the Lord's Prayer as we begin to release our grip on how we think we should live and embrace how Jesus wants us to live.
