The Bible for Young Explorers: MarkSample

What is the kingdom of God like?
The crowds were hoping for a powerful king like David in the Old Testament – to get rid of their enemies and make the nation strong again. Jesus told stories to help them think again. The kingdom of God is not like an army fighting. It’s more like seeds sown in the ground. It starts small, grows slowly, faces opposition, but eventually produces a great crop of food. Jesus was bringing God’s kingdom to earth through teaching, healing, feeding, freeing, and serving people.
