The Bible for Young Explorers: JohnSample

Footwashing
In Bible times, people wore open sandals, which also meant their feet got covered in dust and animal dung. The disciples were about to eat a meal together while reclining next to each other on cushions. So, they needed to wash their feet to avoid a stink. Jesus got up, took off his robe, picked up a towel, and did something only a slave would be expected to do.
Bear Grylls says
Imagine if we lived like Jesus – everyone would experience true kindness and God’s love for themselves.
