BLESSED RESTSample

Day 3: Rest is More Than Sleep
Today's verse comes from Psalm 46. The psalm reminds us that no matter what chaos is happening around us, God is our refuge and strength. “Be still” doesn’t just mean stopping physically; it’s about quieting our hearts and minds to recognize God’s sovereignty. This verse is a call to trust Him completely, even when life feels overwhelming.
We often think of rest as catching up on sleep or a vacation, but God invites us into a deeper kind of rest. It’s not just about resting our bodies; it’s about resting our minds and spirits in Him.
This kind of rest isn’t always easy to find. When my schedule is packed with seminary assignments, meetings, and my daughter’s sports events, I often feel like there’s no time to stop. But I’ve learned that resting in God doesn’t require hours of silence; it’s about choosing to pause, breathe, and let His peace fill me in the middle of the chaos.
Take 5 minutes today to sit quietly with God. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and repeat the words, “Be still and know that He is God.”
