The greatest love that can ever be shown is the of giving one’s life for others. That is exactly what Jesus wanted his disciples to see: His love for them and for the world. He knew what was coming, and He was willing to go through pain and suffering for us.
That is also what God wants us to do. He wants us, our lives; not in pain and suffering, but in a willingness to give up ourselves to serve Him. It’s abiding in him, living every day for Him and with Him. When we do that, our lives will grow spiritual fruit.
When we give of ourselves to others, we show them what God has done for us. We have the opportunity to show who God is. It does require sacrifice, but it is worth it.
