The Kid: An Advent Devotional for Middle SchoolersSample

One of the coolest things about Christmas is that it gives us a glimpse into the backstory of Jesus’ arrival on Earth. So often, we hear about all the amazing things Jesus did during His ministry—healing the sick, rescuing the broken, saving all of mankind for eternity. But when we go back to the beginning—when we check out the story of how the Kid came to the world that first Christmas—we learn so much more about who Jesus is and how His arrival changed the world. That Kid from the middle of nowhere grew up to be the Savior who would rescue us all, and that’s pretty cool!
This week, work on memorizing this passage of Scripture to help you remember the backstory of Jesus’ birth this season. To do that, take time to read all of Matthew 2 with your Small Group or Small Group Leader. After you read, talk to them about what new things you learned about Jesus.

About this Plan

A middle school devotional designed to show students how Jesus’ arrival that very first Christmas changed everything. In this devotional, you’ll discover how Christmas is really about Jesus, the Kid from the middle of nowhere who showed up and changed how we see ourselves, our circumstances, our relationships, and our fears.
