JonahSample

Jonah is an example of a religious professional, a preacher, a prophet who received direct revelation from God but was also deeply and profoundly in the dark about God’s grace. In verses 8 and 9, he gets to the point where he understands God’s grace and is ready to go preach the gospel. So God, in his Sovereignty, causes the fish to vomit him up. Many times, the primary reason for the problems in our lives can be directly related to our lack of understanding of God’s grace. Until we get it, like Jonah did, we will be locked up in the belly of a fish. The day that you understand the grace of God, and you put your faith and trust in Him, is the day you become a Christian and are free.

About this Plan

Jonah is a somewhat unique book because rather than focusing on Jonah's message, it focuses on his own story. In an age where many are deconstructing or questioning their faith because of perceiving God to be too strict, harsh, or un-loving (especially in the Old Testament), Jonah’s story stands as an example of God’s great love for humanity and redemptive purpose for the salvation of the whole world.
