Connecting With God | Dive DeeperSample

Week 3 | Evaluate Your Encounters
Day Two
Read John 17 again but this time try reading it in a different version than you did before, look up the definitions of words you don’t know, summarize what the passage is saying in your own words.
- Do some research, read a commentary on this passage (The Bible Project is a good source) or watch a sermon on this passage. What did you learn from what God has revealed to others through this passage?
- Do you think this passage teaches us about God’s creation, man’s sin, God’s redemption of man, or God’s restoration of man to Himself? It can be more than one. Why is it important to think about this?
- How does knowing that Jesus prays to God the Father change how you view Him? Why do you think Jesus makes a point to do this in front of His disciples?
- How can we learn from this passage about how to encounter God?
- Spend some time in prayer, read back through John 17 and meditate on what Jesus is praying for you in this passage. Try writing your own prayer that has similar themes to Jesus’s prayers in this chapter.
