Let's Talk About...What to Do When Adults DisagreeSample

Fact: Disagreements happen and are normal! Not only that, disagreements can be good for us. God made each of us with unique backgrounds, personalities, and points of view. Naturally, we might see things differently from the people around us from time to time. The tension we feel isn’t necessarily due to disagreement; tension is often created by how we approach it. When we handle disagreements with yelling, insults, and tearing others down, it hurts everyone involved. But when we practice love during a disagreement—when we listen and show respect to the other person—both of us can turn out better for it. We can learn how to show love despite our differences, just as Jesus taught us to love.
Work on memorizing this Scripture this week. As you do, pay attention to what it specifically teaches you about how to respond to disagreements in love rather than in anger.
