Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

And another angel followed, saying, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication" (Revelation 14:8).
How patient is God to administer justice?
Babylon is an ancient city founded by the wicked Nimrod (Genesis 10:8-12). Like father, like son, Babylon has been notoriously wicked through the ages. Jeremiah predicts the future destruction of Babylon, which was not fulfilled in 539 BC when the Medes and the Persians invaded the land. The predictions of Jeremiah speak of a total annihilation of Babylon so that it will never be inhabited again, which wasn't accomplished in 539 BC (Jeremiah 50:3, 39-40; 51:29). John dedicates two chapters to the decimation of Babylon (Revelation 17 and 18). The common linkage with both chapters is financial prosperity. Our Lord will bring down this godless system toward the end of the Tribulation, and heaven will celebrate (Revelation 19:1-6).
Employment Point: Wait patiently upon our righteous God to enact justice.
