Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Consider your ways!" (Haggai 1:7).
Do you have holes in your pockets?
The rebuilding of the Temple had begun, but there was much to do. Sadly, God's people are more interested in renovating their houses than the Temple. Haggai queries, "Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?" (Haggai 1:4). As a consequence to their wrong priorities, the prophet states, "You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes" (Haggai 1:6). God would again put His blessing upon their lives if they would bring Him the glory worthy of His name and finish the construction on the Temple (Haggai 1:8). Jesus' timeless words still stand, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:33).
Employment Point: Prioritize God's work above your own, for His blessing.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
