When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed—better not to vow than to vow and not pay (Ecclesiastes 5:4-5).
Are you honoring your vows to God?
A vow is a sacred commitment to God. For instance, marriage is a sacred institution, and the bride and groom commit to honor their vows before God and the witnesses present. Solomon cautions us not to rashly take a vow. He says, “Better not to vow than to vow and not pay” (Ecclesiastes 5:5). Regardless of the circumstance that led you to make a vow to God, it should be honored. The psalmist writes, “I will go into Your house with burnt offerings; I will pay You my vows, which my lips have uttered and my mouth has spoken when I was in trouble” (Psalm 66:13-14).
Employment Point: Honor God by keeping the vows that you’ve made before Him.
