Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him (Psalm 62:5).
How should you talk to yourself?
David has learned the fine art of when and how to talk to himself. He addresses his entire being, as shown by the words “my soul.” Boldly, the man after God’s own heart tells himself what to do. “My soul,” commands David, “wait silently for God alone.” The restless man of God points his entire being to rely only upon the Lord because He is “my rock and my salvation, …my defense, …my glory, …my strength, and my refuge…” (Psalm 62:6-7). How have you personalized your relationship with God? How often do you call upon Him using the word my? Like David, Paul has a personal relationship with God. He is not ashamed of the gospel (Romans 1:16) but calls the message about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection my gospel (Romans 2:16).
Employment Point: Personalize your relationship with God, trusting Him at all times.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
