Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

For the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease forever (Psalm 49:8).
What is the one thing that money can’t buy?
Proverbs 22:7 teaches us, “The rich rule over the poor.” Their wealth often deceives them into believing they are superior to others; however, all the money in the world cannot purchase the salvation of just one person. “None of them can by any means redeem his brother,” writes the psalmist, “nor give to God a ransom for him” (Psalm 49:7). Moreover, the psalmist reveals the haughtiness of the rich, “Their inner thought is that their houses will last forever, their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names” (Psalm 49:11). Our Lord Jesus penetrates the naiveté of the rich and asks, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).
Employment Point: Trust in Jesus, who alone can redeem your soul.
