The Gospel of MarkSample

Jesus Heals A Blind Beggar (Mark 10:46-52)
In Mark 10:46-52 (also told in Matthew 20:29-34 and Luke 18:35-43), Jesus heals blind Bartimaeus. Mark is quite clear that Bartimaeus is a model to imitate. From Mark for Everyone, by NT Wright: He’s (Bartimaeus) already a man of faith, he recognizes who Jesus is, he clearly believes Jesus can help him, he leaves his begging, and he follows Jesus on the way. Put yourself in his position. Sit by the roadside and listen to the crowd. Call out to Him, and when He summons you, put everything aside and go for Him. Don’t look back… Ask for freedom, for salvation. And when you get it, be prepared to follow Jesus wherever He goes next.
