Christ The King

DAY 9 OF 9

In this final passage for our Novena to Christ the King we read from the book of Revelation.  We are again reminded of God’s love for us, our freedom from sin and death, that he is the beginning and the end, that his reign is from coast to coast, from east to west, that he has been given glory and dominion and that “he made us a line of kings, priests to serve his God.”  We also raise our thoughts to Christ’s return in glory, that his second coming to the earth will be at an unknown time and that we are to be ready, in body, mind and spirit to receive him when he comes.

As you pray, pray with expectancy that Christ will return, pray in thanksgiving for his benevolent rule, pray that you may serve Jesus, your King, more faithfully, more diligently, more humbly.  May Almighty God bless you.

You may also wish to pray this traditional prayer to Christ the King:

Christ Jesus, I acknowledge You King of the universe.  All that has been created has been made for You.  Make full use of Your rights over me.  I renew the promises I made in Baptism, when I renounced Satan and all his pomps and works, and I promise to live a good Christian life and to do all in my power to procure the triumph of the rights of God and Your Church.  Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer you my efforts in order to obtain that all hearts may acknowledge your Sacred Royalty, and that thus the Kingdom of Your peace may be established throughout the universe.  Amen.
