What the Bible Says About ... Volume 1Sample

The power of words for good
Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a ruling rightly given. Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.
It is to one's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
The soothing tongue is a tree of life; the tongue of the wise brings healing.
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver … The lips of the righteous nourish many …
In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
A person finds joy in giving an apt reply—and how good is a timely word!
For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you.
