I Am He (S1-E8)

DAY 3 OF 4

The God Who Heals

Healing can feel complicated. We believe that God heals – Scripture shows it, people experience it. But we also live in a world marked by brokenness, where not every story ends as we hope. Sometimes God heals instantly, sometimes in stages, and sometimes He does not bring the healing we are desperately praying for.

That tension is real. Yet even when physical healing doesn’t come, God still restores hearts. Although He does not want us to experience the brokenness of this sinful world, He can use our worst situations of suffering to draw us closer to Him – filling us with His peace, presence, and comfort.

How do we live in that tension – believing in a God who can heal while trusting Him when He doesn’t? Can we let God be God even when the outcome confuses us?

In The Chosen, we see Jesus' compassion for Peter’s household. Peter is torn between following Jesus and caring for his family, especially as his mother in law is so sick. Jesus sees the struggle, steps close, and brings healing. His presence lifts a burden from their shoulders.

Jesus sees you too. He sees your situation, your pain, your questions, and the ones you love. He knows what’s most needed and when.

In John 14:12, Jesus promises that those who believe in Him will do even greater works. That includes praying for healing, acting with compassion, and trusting that God’s power will work in His time and way. We may not control the results, but we can be faithful to pray, to hope, and to love.

Philippians 4 reminds us to bring everything to God with prayer and thanksgiving. His peace will guard our hearts even when we don’t understand His plan.

Reflection Questions

  • How do you respond when healing doesn’t happen the way you expect?
  • What does it mean for you to “do greater things” in Jesus’ name?
  • Where might God be inviting you to pray with renewed trust today?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, give me courage to trust You and pray boldly for healing – whether for myself or for others. Help me rest in Your wisdom and timing. Thank You for being near, for seeing me, and for bringing peace beyond understanding. Amen.
