REFLECT + FOCUS

Paul said:

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
1 Corinthians 6:18 NIV

Although all sin is sin - outside of God’s plan for us - sexual activity seems to have particularly negative consequences. Even when sexual sin doesn’t involve anyone else - obsessive sexual thoughts, lust, pornography, masturbation - these all open a door to other problems: shame, irritiablity, uncontrolable thought patterns, frustration, self-hatred, depression, and anxiety.

Secular researchers have found this too, and there is even a movement amongst non-Christian, non-religious men away from pornography and masturbation, and towards self control - and a more biblical understanding of sexuality, although most don’t even realise it.

No matter where you are, or where you have been, regarding sexual sin, today is a new day - the slate can be wiped clean, you can be washed and renewed in the Blood of Jesus - and you can receive the grace of God to realign your mind, heart and actions to His word.

Perhaps you just need a little encouragement on the path.

Either way, I encourage you to share about your fight with some trusted brothers and set your heart towards being completely free.

I also encourage you to be open and vulnerable about these things to help other brothers. So many are suffering silently by themselves. Let’s reach out and help each other.

As you declare today’s shout, ask God how you can grow more and more in sexual freedom and purity.

First Corinthians 9, 27 says:
I beat my body
I make it my slave
So that I might get the prize.
