The truth is: no matter where you go, God is with you. You are not alone. God goes before you. The Bible talks about how God is as close to you as your right hand.
Jesus has been pursuing you since the day you were born. He has seen every moment, every painful decision, every heartbreak, every victory. Even in your loneliest moment, you were never alone.
When you decided to follow Jesus, you were given a brand new life, and the Holy Spirit came to live within you. This means that God is always with you, as close to you as the air you breathe and the skin on your body. God is really complex, and God’s nature is mysteriously three-in-one. There is one God, but within who He is, there is God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Spirit (Holy Spirit). We call this the Trinity.
As you follow Jesus, the Holy Spirit will transform you to look more and more like Jesus. God’s Spirit is a Person who loves you, counsels you, leads you, teaches you, and empowers you. We have the Holy Spirit living within us to bring us into greater union with God and to lead us to become more like the person of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is a Person, but it can be helpful to think of the wind or the breath in your lungs. Both are invisible – yet both are very real! You can’t see the wind, but it moves. You can’t see your breath, yet it gives life and sustains you. God’s Spirit moves in people’s lives and gives life to sustain you.
Jesus is with you through His Spirit. We don’t only receive the Holy Spirit when we follow Jesus – we can ask Him to fill us afresh every single day and walk alongside us in every moment.
You are never alone.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank You that You are always with me. Fill me afresh today. Remind me of Your personal presence and of Your constant nearness. Speak to me and lead me.
