Different LifeSample

When God called his people out of Egypt and gathered them at Mount Sinai, he called them to be different. He made a covenant with them and headed it off with what we call the 10 Commandments. Though really, they’re more like a table of contents or root directory. (William Tyndale called them the 10 Verses. And if you count them up, there’s more than ten commands.) They spell out 10 basic ideas for a different kind of connection with God and each other. By keeping them (and the way of God they represent) Israel would be a treasured possession, a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.
Israel didn’t exactly excel at this. In fact, they messed it up pretty bad. But God pushed on with his promise to make them different. A time would come when they would be different by nature of who they are, not just by what they do. They would live different because they would want to! The same is true for you.
About this Plan

Christians are different. They can’t help it. When you’re born again and filled with the Spirit, it changes you. This leads to different values about right and wrong, and a different lifestyle to match it. This series of 5-day plans uses the 10 Commandments (following the classic Augustinian ordering) as a vehicle for an alternative, Christ-like morality and Jesus-way of living.
