Promises

“Too weak, too weary to try. Too angry inside, well so am I. I’m all alone with nobody else. I’m so in need of help, I keep reminding myself that life is beautiful.

In Christ we have a new identity. In Him, we have hope. He’s promised we’ll go through trouble. He’s also promised us help. Walking with Jesus is not always easy. Sometimes we’ll get tired. We might give in to temptation, want to give up or run away, or lose our temper, our friends, our job, our dreams.

Jesus’ followers understood this. Writing to the church in Corinth, the apostle Paul said, “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:12–13).

We’re all broken and lost until Jesus makes us new. We all go through tough times. And we’re all tempted, but God promises He can make a way for us to go through whatever we face.

The apostle Peter recorded this promise: “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast” (1 Peter 5:10).

There is no hope in this world. There’s trouble and suffering and temptation, but it’s all going to end someday. It’s all going to fade away. No matter what, it’s going to be okay. We have hope in God. He has made, and He still makes, and He will make “everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). His grace and love are beyond what we can comprehend. We can trust Him. Life is beautiful. And hey, you’re beautiful.
