DAY 6 OF 40

#IBelieve (Leo Bigger)

I have already calculated that I drink just about 9.8 liters of water a week. Every day 1.4 liters resp. 42 liters a month. Over and over again. I just can’t stop doing it. The thirst comes again and again.

But here Jesus speaks of another type of thirst. Deep down, each person has a great desire and no matter how we try to quench it, the thirst is just not simply gone. For the woman with whom Jesus was talking to, it was most likely a mixture of desire, security, recognition, and affection. But no matter with which man she searched for this, the void was simply never filled. The thirst just never went away.

Unfortunately, this is the way for many people. The thirst comes back over and over again.

Meanwhile, it should be clear for you that Jesus is also speaking about the Holy Spirit here. Since you have been on the path with God, this good Spirit of God lives in you – and he also does not plan to leave you until the end of your life, resp. for eternity. He just cannot. God himself lives in you!

I had to learn to give the Holy Spirit more space in my life. Sometimes I get in my own way when I am not conscious of God’s presence and I do not let the Holy Spirit come close to me.

Actionstep:

Take a little time to thank God that the Holy Spirit lives in you. And then ask him if there is an area in your life which he would like to fill with his life.
