I love the timing and message of this song. It’s a beautiful reminder of how God is the One who heals, restores, and makes whole. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says …
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
This scripture is the heart behind this devotional series. In each one, I’ll share about the different lyrics that comprise “Heal Our Land.” I pray that God speaks to your heart as you read and listen to the words.
The song starts out …
You take our lives
Flawed, yet beautiful
Lord, You’re merciful
It always amazes me how merciful and gracious our God is. In the Psalms, David writes of how His mercy follows us all the days of our lives (Psalm 23:6). And in James 2:13, we read that God’s “mercy triumphs over judgment.”
Because this song is about God as our merciful healer and restorer, I wanted it to start declaring that truth — how He takes our lives, no matter what we’ve done or how we’ve fallen short, and makes us beautiful as only He can.
He redeems, revives, and is mighty to save whatever needs saving!
It’s a truth so powerful to be reminded of, and I hope you will always hold fast to it every day, in every season of your life.
