Wait, Watch, Worship: A Lent DevotionalSample

Wake (from death to life)
Monday – 13 days before Easter
John 11:1-10
Jesus acts in his own time. For human beings, who are bound to schedules and calendars and clocks and time frames, this can be frustrating and disappointing. Imagine your response if you were Mary or Martha in this story. You’d sent a passionate plea to your close friend, the miracle-worker Jesus, because your only brother was dying. You expected to see him soon. And then you waited. And waited. And waited. And your brother died before Jesus arrived. Imagine the emotions.
- When have you waited for God to show up?
- How did you respond?
- Are you currently waiting on God?
- How are you trusting and obeying him in the meantime?

About this Plan

From Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday, this devotional plan reflects on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, tracing the themes such as wait, wonder, watch, and worship. Each week focuses on a specific Biblical story (Sunday-Friday) and ends with a Psalm (Saturday). Holy Week traces the final scenes and events of Jesus' life, crucifixion, and resurrection.
