Wait, Watch, Worship: A Lent DevotionalSample

Wake (from death to life)
Wednesday – 11 days before Easter
John 11:11-33
Jesus responded differently to Martha’s and Mary’s “if only” statements. To Martha he offered words of truth and encouragement. To Mary he offered empathy and shared emotion. He knew them as unique individuals and didn’t offer a one-size-fits-all response. Jesus knows each of us deeply. He knows what we need. He understands our questions and worries, even when we don’t. If you were there, how do you think Jesus would have responded to you? When you are confused or hurting, do you first look for truth and understanding, or for empathy and caring? Rest in the confidence that Jesus responds in the way that he knows is best for us in the moment.

About this Plan

From Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday, this devotional plan reflects on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, tracing the themes such as wait, wonder, watch, and worship. Each week focuses on a specific Biblical story (Sunday-Friday) and ends with a Psalm (Saturday). Holy Week traces the final scenes and events of Jesus' life, crucifixion, and resurrection.
