Plot TwistSample

Everyone knows what it's like to feel lonely. Maybe you've felt it when you're home alone or for other reasons. Like when people surround you but don't really feel connected with any of them. Or a friendship changes and you miss what you used to have. Or it feels like no one understands the difficult thing you're experiencing. There are a lot of reasons we might feel lonely. So I wonder if Jesus' friends were feeling it too after Jesus died before they knew he had come back to life.
There's this story in Luke 24 where two of Jesus' friends were walking to a town called Emmaus. It was about a seven-mile walk. On the way, a man showed up and walked with them nearly the entire way. Just before they arrived at their destination, they suddenly realized — "Wait! Jesus? Is that you?" And it was. In their grief, Jesus had been there the whole time. What a plot twist, right? And that's true for us too. When we feel alone, Jesus is present.

About this Plan

Whether it’s your favorite movie, book, or reality show, you know there's nothing like a good plot twist! A plot twist can make us rethink everything we thought we knew about the story. In this 30-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, designed for Lent we’ll focus on how Jesus experienced “life-plot twists” and how he is with us when we go through unexpected moments in our life.
