The Perfect Road Map I was getting dinner ready one day when suddenly, there was a power failure. In the blink of an eye, the room was in pitch darkness. I couldn’t see anything. But as soon as I located the torch and turned it on, I could see everything again. This little incident taught me how light can dispel darkness in an instant. King David used a similar example, to show what the Word of God does for us. He related it to a lamp that lights up our path, showing us where to go. When we read God’s Word, it reveals to us the truth and shows us how to live our lives; it directs our paths. That’s why the Bible cannot be considered just an ordinary book that we read at leisure. It is the road map for our lives. We’d be completely lost without it! The psalmist says, the unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130 NIV). If you are lost, confused or find yourself in a tough spot, remember the Word of God has the answers, even to the most difficult questions and toughest situations. You don’t need to spend sleepless nights or run helter-skelter for help. The solution to your problem is right in front of you. As you get into God’s Word today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand and obey His direction. He will guide your steps and help you make the right decisions. Hide His Word in your heart and meditate on it, and God will surely brighten up your path and remove all darkness from around you. Declaration Father God, I thank You that Your Word has all the answers I need. I submit myself to it, that I may not read it as an ordinary book, but as the truth that can enlighten my heart. Amen
