Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 315 OF 366

A Submissive Heart is a Godly Heart! Jesus was always submissive to His Father. Although He had all authority and power given by His Father, He knew that He was there for a purpose - to fulfill the will of the Father and reconcile man to God. Submitting to His Father was never a struggle because He knew that He and the Father are one, and part of the Godhead Trinity. Eternally, they would always be Father and Son. The same is with the Holy Spirit. For this reason, when His people will conquer death by rising from the dead and when the last enemy will be defeated, Christ will hand over the Kingdom to God the Father, so that God will be all in all. We too have been instructed to submit to God first, and then to all God-given authority. It is easy to submit to God who is holy and perfect. But it is difficult to submit to imperfect people - like an angry husband, an arrogant government official or an overbearing boss. Sometimes, submitting becomes difficult when we think of the suffering, which the very act of submission would bring. But Jesus confronted all these situations and overcame them by doing the will of the Father. He demonstrated that when we submit to people, we do it unto God and not to man. By submitting to His earthly parents (Luke 2:52), Jesus grew in wisdom, stature and found favor with God and men. In the garden of Gethsemane, the fervent prayer helped Him to submit to the Father’s will, in spite of the agony of His upcoming crucifixion. When our focus is on making God ‘all in all’ in every situation, self-seeking is replaced by Kingdom-seeking; confusion vanishes from our lives (James 3:16), and submission becomes easy. We now possess a godly heart like Jesus! Prayer Dear God, strengthen me to submit to You and all authority in my life, so that Kingdom purposes may be achieved through me for Your glory. Amen.
