Who’s Got Your Heart? Did you know that God and the devil are both after just one thing - your heart? The truth is we were created to love God, to have an intimate relationship with Him. But sometimes, even as Christians, we can become preoccupied with other things like making money, watching excessive television, food and other indulgences. These things begin to compete for God’s place in our lives. They may not all be wrong, but they were never designed to take first priority. The devil knows that if your heart were to be completely surrendered to God, you would be unstoppable! If God held your undivided attention and love, then your soul and body would be perfectly aligned with your spirit, which is already perfectly aligned with Him. Do you see what this means? Satan has been conspiring and strategizing simply to keep our hearts away from God. Mind you, we will still be saved, but we will never experience the relationship God meant for us to have with Him. I love this example by pastor and author, Rick Warren. He says, “How many people do you know who don’t park a car in their garage? Garages are made for cars. That’s how they are designed. That’s what gives the garage its purpose. But we fill them up with all kinds of other stuff that they were never designed to hold. The same thing is true in our hearts. Your heart was made to contain God.” Wow! Just imagine! Our hearts were actually built for God! To think that we can be Christians for the longest time and still don’t have an intimate relationship with God is sad, isn’t it? Today, let God have your heart. Let Him reside in you, and allow yourself to experience a relationship so intimate, that it will forever change you. Prayer Lord, take over my heart today. I surrender myself wholly to You, and give You first priority in my life. Amen.
