Supernatural Wisdom Comes Only from God Our daily life is full of challenges that affect different areas of our lives; our finances, careers, health and relationships. Some issues recur more often than others and sometimes we find it difficult to overcome them. What may have worked the last time may not necessarily work in the future, and we begin to struggle with ‘unanswered prayer’. When David came under attack from the Philistines for the first time, God gave him a simple assurance and it worked successfully! This was a testimony in itself because God gave David a sweat-less victory. But the second time around, even though the enemy adopted the same strategy, God again gave David victory, but with a different set of instructions (2 Samuel 5:20-24). Why didn’t David rely on the testimony of the previous experience to defeat the Philistines, especially since the nature of the challenge was identical? I believe David’s relationship with the Lord was one of extreme intimacy, which resulted in David’s complete dependence on God, even concerning matters that seemed repetitive and predictable. It is human nature to stop depending on God when things fall into a pattern. We think, ‘if it happened the last time, it will happen this time too.’ This leads to self-dependence. Our past experiences determine our attitude towards our present and future situations. Our relationship with God requires daily renewal, which means we need to seek His counsel, protection and provision on a daily basis with the same intensity. We must empty ourselves of anything that makes us self-dependent, and equip ourselves with everything that makes us God-dependent. Prayer Heavenly Father, help us increase our level of faith in You for every situation we face and not depend on our own wisdom. Thank You, that the same resurrection power, that raised Jesus from the dead, works within us and will help us overcome the toughest of situations. Amen.
