Why Not Today? In Exodus 8, God sent a plague of frogs upon Egypt because Pharaoh refused to let His people, the Israelites, go. One frog is cute, but millions are not. Just imagine this scenario. There were frogs everywhere - in the water, on the land, in the houses – hopping around, croaking, getting squashed underfoot. Trust me, it wasn’t pleasant. And there were dead frogs too, piled in heaps, making the whole land stink! So, Pharaoh calls Moses for help. In Exodus 8:9 (NLT),“You set the time!” Moses replied. “Tell me when you want me to pray for you, your officials, and your people. Then you and your houses will be rid of the frogs. They will remain only in the Nile River.” The ball is now in Pharaoh’s court. All he has to do is choose the time, to set himself and the people free of the plague. Guess what his answer is. “Do it tomorrow” (Exodus 8:10a NLT). What in the world would make Pharaoh want to spend one more night with the frogs?! It’s hard to understand this foolishness or stubbornness. But, in reality, we are no different sometimes. We see ourselves inflicted by the frogs of unforgiveness, bitterness, envy, rage, and greed. But instead of receiving the victory, freedom, health and debt-free life that God has for us, we wait for tomorrow, or the so-called ‘right time’. It’s like taking another bite of the cheesecake and putting off a healthier lifestyle until tomorrow. Why would you do that when you can start living healthy today? Do not delay. You may be dealing with a broken relationship or working on some anger issues or simply chasing your dreams. It could be anything. You will never be a 100 per cent ready. So stop waiting for the perfect time, it may never come. Start Today! Call out to God today, ask Him for help and take that first step. Why wait for tomorrow, when you have today? I dare you to begin today! Prayer Father God, I ask You to help me make the right choices today. Let me not wait until tomorrow, to receive and walk in all that You have for me.
