God wants you to be happy. He wants you to trust His plan for your life–His good, perfect plan. It is so easy to try to take matters into your own hands, especially when it comes to dating. Of course, you can’t just sit back and hope your future spouse randomly shows up at your door one day. You need to take some proactive steps toward meeting new people. But you also don’t need to force something. You can go on a first date fully trusting God’s plan and simply be honest, be positive, and have fun!

The only way you’ll ever find a partner who loves you for you is by being yourself from the beginning. A first date is a great opportunity to show your personality and share what’s most important to you.

Be Positive

While it’s important to be yourself, it’s also important to remember that a first date should be exciting and positive. So, while you might have some challenging things going on in life, try to focus on the good stuff. Keep the conversations lighthearted and meaningful as you get to know someone new.

Have Fun

You can date with intention while still having fun. It doesn’t have to be super serious all the time. Even if your goal is to find a future spouse, try not to put too much pressure on the first date. While it’s essential to ask good questions, make sure it doesn’t feel like you’re interviewing the person for the position of husband or wife. The goal is to get to know someone new while trusting that God has a perfect plan for your life!
