Treasure Hunt With MollySample

Your Words Are Powerful
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” – Proverbs 18:21 KJV
Molly says:
It wasn't long until the silverback gorilla caught up with me. I decided to hide in the woodlands. It was getting dark, and I was feeling hungry. Leaning against a large Wallowing Willow tree, I sat and cried. A beautiful young girl approached me. She offered me the most delicious apple.
I could hardly hear what she said as I scoffed down the apple. Her name was Amelda. When she said how sorry she was for me, I couldn't help but feel such sorrow. I didn't realise the tree roots wrapped tighter around my legs with every sad thing I said.
As if my day wasn't bad enough, the gorilla made another appearance. He found me! He must have startled Amelda because she was nowhere to be found.
The good thing was that the gorilla did not want to hurt or capture me. He was sent to help me. His name was Reginald. I wanted to go with him but was stuck to the Wallowing Willow tree.
Thankfully, Reginald had a pair of tiny, golden scissors that could snip through the roots and free me from the tree, but the roots were still clinging tightly to my legs. It hurt!
Reginald took me to a little shop in Fortuitous Town. At the Word Shop, I met Mrs. Hoot, who found the solution in one of her many books. She helped me to use my imagination to remember a place where I felt at peace. As I told her all about this place, the roots started to dry up and soon fell to the ground. I was finally free from their grip. Yay!
“All words have great power… They can keep you stuck or set you free.” – Mrs. Hoot.
Your words are powerful:
The lies we believe are like Wallowing Willow roots that wrap around our hearts and keep us stuck in anxiety or fear. But speaking God’s Word is like poison to those roots. When our words are full of negativity, it keeps us stuck. But when our words are filled with positivity, life, and power, it sets us free.
How often do you say things that are negative (or positive)?
Is there a particular problem that makes you feel anxious or sad? Find a scripture you can say out loud whenever it makes you feel upset.
Today's Treasure Hunt:
Find words that help you fly.
- Favourite story books or quotes that inspire you.
- Write down ten things you are grateful for.
- Write down five things you like about yourself.
Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the power of your Word. Help me remember the promises you gave me in your word whenever I feel anxious or scared. I choose to believe your Word and speak it out loud, knowing that you will honour your promise to me.
In Jesus Name
Amen
