Doing Right vs. Doing Evil in the Eyes of the LordSample

Before getting into today reading, let's take time to refresh our memory on where we are at in the story of the kings through the video above.
Today is the last day we will read above the fall of the Kingdom of Northern Israel. Assyria has taken the people of Northern Israel captive. From this point forward, they are a people in captivity. Although the story of the Northern nation of Israel has come to a close, this is not the end of the story for the people of the Northern Kingdom...there is still a remnant of people who are left behind in captivity under Assyrian rule. These people eventually become known as Samaritans. A people in constant tension and conflict with the remnant of Israelites in the Southern Kingdom (Judah). Yet, we see Jesus Himself, interacting and teaching these people. We even read about Jesus using a Samaritan character in one of His most famous parables. This is a gentle whisper of the faithful sovereign presence of God, even when all else seems lost.
Today's prayer of illumination: Living God, help me to hear Your holy Word that I may truly understand; that, understanding, I may believe, and, believing, I may follow in all faithfulness and obedience, seeking Your honor and glory in all that I do; through Christ my only hope. Amen.

About this Plan

A 6 week reading plan through the books 1st and 2nd Kings. The theme for this plan is: "Doing Right vs. Doing Evil (in the eyes of the Lord)". We will explore the lives of prophets, kings and queens and how they led God's people in the eyes of the Lord. Some choose "evil" and others "to do what's right". How are you living in the eyes of the Lord?
