Rejoice and Be Content in All Circumstances
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Philippians 4:4 (NIV)
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:12-13 (NIV)
This chapter of Philippians may be short, but there are several lessons that we can learn and apply in our Christian walk.
Firstly, we are to be like Paul to rejoice in all circumstances, knowing that our hope and trust is in the Lord. Secondly, we are to turn our cares over to Him, praying with a thankful heart knowing that God knows all our needs and He will fill us with His peace and joy. Thirdly, we are to be like Paul, content in whatever circumstances we are in, knowing that God is our sole Provider.
I believe many have experienced and learned these lessons during their pandemic quarantine at home or in a hotel. Despite all the restrictions within limited space, we are not in lack. Our basic needs are met. We have food to eat and we have shelter. Most importantly, we have Jesus! We have everything. So, let’s rejoice!
Prayer
Thank You, Lord, that You are the source of our joy and strength. In You, we are able to do all things and rejoice. May we cast all our cares onto You in exchange for Your supernatural peace that surpasses all things. We thank You that You are our hope in all circumstances. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
