The Job of Parenting

What work has the Lord given you to do? You can be sure that if you have a child, the work the Lord has given you is parenting. What a comforting promise this verse speaks over us! The hard work of parenting will not be in vain.

PRAYER:

Victorious Savior, I see the work that you have given me. You have given me the high privilege of being a parent. You entrusted to me one or more of your most prized creations to raise and love. Thank you for this opportunity. I rebuke the lie of society that says parenting is a burden. You tell me in your Word that children are a gift; thank you for this good gift.

When I am tired, bring me refreshment. When I don’t want to do this anymore, show me ways to refill and be rejuvenated in my parenting. When I don’t know what to do, give me wisdom. Thank you for the promise that this work I do will not return void. It’s hard when there is no immediate fruit, but I know that you are the God of the journey, not just the moment. You will be faithful to your promises.
